This work examines the constant dialogue between the internal self and that which is performed for the outside world, with a particular attention to technology’s role in aiding this performance.

To contrast these two ideas, these original compositions sonically juxtapose the humanity and naturally airy quality of the acoustic guitar with the synthetic (and at times aggressive) electric synthesizers and drum machines.

This work was in part the capstone project for Rika Yokumotsu’s thesis at Reed College.
